Old meets New

I stumbled across this powerful piece of Mexican graf, just 2 blocks from the Mayan Museum of Medicine. The raven-haired Mayan woman depicted in the photo represents the strong presence of Mayan women in the Chiapas region. San Cristobal is rich in indigenous culture and history, and in some ways resembles Guatemala more than Mexico in this respect. Each town/village tends to have their own unique laws and dialects. This young, local boy just happened to be walking past as I took the photo; in some ways symbolising the clash of Mayan culture and beliefs with modern-day Mexico.
