Chocolate Fix

Anyone trying to kick their chocolate fix is going to have to exercise A LOT of restraint in San Cristobal - fact! Cacao was first discovered in the Chiapas region of Mexico and Guatemala over 4000 years ago and it has been cultivated to make chocolate, very good chocolate I might add, in San Cristobal. Not surprisingly, there are an abundance of chocolateria's here, but the standout one is Kakao Natura, tucked away in a sleepy corner directly across from the old market. You can choose from classic, semi bitter or bitter and add cardamon, vanilla or even chillies (in Chiapas they like it spicy!). Velvety, smooth, dark and hot is how it is delivered - has all the makings of a good chocolateria crawl - this is the place to do it!
